Spalding, Albert Goodwill
(1850-1915) Сполдинг, Алберт Гудвилл
Спортивный деятель, бейсболист, предприниматель. Часто ошибочно считается изобретателем бейсбола [baseball]. В начале 1870-х успешно начал карьеру профессионального питчера [pitcher], в 1876 стал выступать за команду "Чикаго уайт стокингс" [Chicago White Stockings], был ее руководителем и капитаном, участвовал в создании Национальной лиги [National League]. В том же году основал фирму по производству спорттоваров "А.Г. Сполдинг энд бразерс" [A.G. Spalding and Brothers]. В 1939 в числе первых избран в Галерею славы бейсбола [National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum]
